Development in the North Edge

The private sector and the City of Edmonton have recognized the potential in the North Edge, and there is always development happening. 


The City of Edmonton has shown its commitment to the area by investing in: 

  • North LRT to NAIT: The new North running LRT comes right through the North Edge, with a stop at MacEwan University, bringing shoppers from all over the city to the area. 
  • Central McDougall/Queen Mary Park Revitalization: Through the Office of Great Neighbourhoods, the City has invested in revitalizing the communities of Central McDougall and Queen Mary Park. 
  • 105 Avenue Redevelopment: The City of Edmonton has committed to redevelop 105th avenue into a green, walkable street.


The potential of the North Edge has not been overlooked by the private sector, including:

  • New condo developments
  • New businesses moving in
  • Repairs and upgrades to existing buildings

 

Major upcoming developments in the area: 

  • MacEwan University Single Sustainable Campus: MacEwan University is moving all of its campuses to its downtown location, forming the South border of the North Edge
  • Downtown Arena: Construction of Rogers Place has begun at the southeast corner of the North Edge on 104 ave between 102 and 104 streets.
